Arcade Power

Complete Makeover

Tutorial #8

Our customer brought us his arcade joystick today, looking for a smaller, better-looking box. All the parts are provided by the customer. All we did was build a new box for him. This tutorial shows how we turned his subwoofer into our Aegis joystick.

We first opened his "subwoofer" and located the controller board, buttons and joystick. We will need to take these out. The person who made it did not do a good job--the wires and soldering points are very messy as you can see in the pictures below. We will be using quick connects to connect the wires because this is more efficient and looks neater.

After taking out the parts we need, we mounted the buttons and joystick on the Aegis joystick box.

We then connected the wires from the buttons and joystick to the controller board. Note that we used quick connects.

Voila! Looks much better doesn't it?
